Update Monday 1/31/2022:  The long standing limits on FBA storage on Amazon seem to be lifting.  Multiple large brands reported FBA unit increases of 80-300%.  Yeoman has been monitoring Fulfillment By Amazon (FBA) capacity limits since October, and this week, we saw massive lifts for larger sellers (above $1m)  Smaller sellers also reported increases, but not nearly as large.

The question for most is ‘how long’  Most manufacturers simply do not have the production capacity or available inventory to triple their Amazon inventory in a week.  Most brands will need 3-4 weeks to fill that space.  Unfortunately, Amazon won’t likely wait this long.

We’ve been monitoring these limits since they started and we’ve never seen so many increases in a week.  Amazon did not magically get more space, but are more likely putting it out for great sellers on a first come, first serve basis.  The following graph indexed average storage available top brands since October 2021.  As you can see, Amazon clearly takes away storage if its not used.

2022 FBA Storage Limits

We highly recommend that you take advantage of this week’s opportunity to expand your FBA stock, but don’t necessarily disrupt your entire operations.  Amazon will likely keep adjusting the levels throughout the first half of the year. If you’ve got your inventory well managed and your IPI score above 450 then you’ll likely get more chances at adding more.

If you have questions about FBA, IPI scores, or overall Amazon management, let’s talk.
